Running the Paris Marathon

Forget hop-on-hop-off bus tours. What’s the best way to see a city? To run it, of course!

After a year of planning and months of training, I ran my first marathon in Paris on April 8th 2018. It was an exhilarating adventure, culminating in the best race I could have ever have wished for.

Here is my race recap of the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris; something I wanted to do to ‘tick off the bucket list’, but has in fact ignited a passion for endurance running.

How To Spend A Weekend In Nuremberg

Fresh back from a weekend in Nuremberg and I don't think there are sufficient adjectives in my vocabulary to express how much this city captured my heart {but I'll give it a good try, anyway!}.

It might seem quite a random choice over the more popular German destinations of Berlin, Hamburg or Munich, but for the first time since getting married and having children I was going to be travelling alone. I fancied somewhere that ticked all my boxes: cultural, historical, beautiful and with great food and coffee - but with the added bonus of being safe and easily navigable. My weekend in Nuremberg {or Nürnberg to the locals} offered all of the above but with an extra shot of unexpected cool.

Why The Michelberger Hotel is the Coolest Place to Stay in Berlin

Berlin pulsates a understated coolness unparalleled by any other city on earth.

It's no secret that Berlin holds the keys to my heart. I was born and brought up in the city, and try and head back at least once a year to get my fix. What can I say? I'm a Berlin junkie.

On our most recent trip, we stayed at The Michelberger Hotel and I've got to say - it's the hippest hotel in Berlin, by far.

Top 5 Things to Do in Hamburg

Top 5 things to do on a short weekend trip to Hamburg, Germany as a couple.

Hamburg is ideal for a city weekend break from the UK, with the flight from London Stansted taking around an hour and a quick hop on the train from the airport to the city centre Hauptbahnhof taking around half an hour and costing 3€.

Often overlooked in favour of Germany's inimitably cool capital, Berlin, Hamburg has shaken off the seedy reputation of old and has reemerged as a vibrant and cosmopolitan destination. It is fairly navigable by foot, although it is well-served by the S- and U-bahn public transport systems.
